SEBASTIANI THEATRE PRESENTS
VOX POPULI & PLAN BE: PEOPLE GET READY!
MAY 21

Vox Populi, Sonoma’s own rock and roll choir, accompanied by Plan Be, one of Sonoma’s hottest bands, returns to the Sebastiani Theatre on Monday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. with their new show, PEOPLE GET READY! Vox Populi & Plan Be “go eclectic” in their third performance at the Sebastiani Theatre with songs of such popular artists as Jason Mraz, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, the Beatles, and more.

Also, joining Vox Populi & Plan Be this year is “V. P. KIDS,” Vox Populi's choir for musical children who LOVE to sing! Directed by Julia Maffei Holsworth and Sherrill Peterson, the choir includes local children in grades 2 - 5, who meet weekly to sing together and learn the basics of choral singing, harmony, and music theory. For more information, or to schedule an audition contact vpkids@gmail.com.

Formed in 2007, Vox Populi was created by local musician Mark Dennis. The number of choir members has swelled to over 70 fun-loving, talented singers who perform sophisticated multi-harmony versions of well-known rock and roll songs. Their powerful performance with sweet harmonies and memorable tunes has brought both smiles and tears to sold-out audiences for a number of years.

General seating tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Sebastiani Theatre at 476 First Street East in Sonoma. Call 707/996-9756 for ticket reservations. VISA and MasterCard are accepted.

Playing as a double bill for one admission price. (144 minutes) includes Q&A with filmmaker.

"Remembering Playland at the Beach" A full-length documentary film about San Francisco's famous 10-acre seaside amusement park, Playland at the Beach. Located next to Ocean Beach, it was torn down in 1972 to make way for a condominium development. Gone now for more than 3 decades, it remains one of the city's lost treasures. The film is a journey back to see Laffing Sal, the Fun House, the Carousel, the Big Dipper, the Diving Bell, Dark Mystery, Limbo, Fun-tier Town, and much, much more, all through the eyes of the people that were there. Includes 20-minutes of archival footage, nearly 200 photographs and original music. (60 minutes) Released March 2010

"Sutro's: The Palace at Lands End" This feature length documentary film tells the story of San Francisco's privately owned swimming, ice-skating and museum complex built in the late 19th century. Once the world's largest swimming pool establishment, the building burnt down in 1966. The ruins remain today. Journey back in time to revisit Sutro Baths when it was in full operation. See: The Seven Pools, Sutro Railway, Merrie Way, Sutro's Cliff House, Ice Skating Rink, Egyptian Mummy Museum, Tom Thumb Exhibit, Musee Mecanique, Torture Museum, Lord's Last Supper, Ito, Giggling Ghost, 1963 & 1966 Fires, Sutro Ruins, and much, much more. A nostalgic trip back in time told by historians and the people that were there. (84 minutes)

The Beatles: The Lost Concert features the group's first-ever concert in America, performed at the Washington Coliseum in Washington, D.C. Filmed in 1964 expressly for the big screen, concert footage was 'lost' and remained unseen in theaters for over 47 years. More than a concert film, Lost Concert tells the story of how The Beatles first came to the U.S., through original interviews, historical footage, unpublished photos and rare artifacts.

The documentary features commentaries with celebrities such as Chuck Berry, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and The Strokes, as well as journalists, historians, and fans who attended the original 1964 concert. The Beatles is the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed group in the history of popular music, having sold over 1.3 billion discs and tapes.
